Man that Poster Boy ain’t Playing….
This weekend I had the pleasure of catching up w/ one of my favorite characters I’ve come to consider a friend, Poster Boy. It had been a minute since our last game of catch up with so much happening on both sides of the table. Before you know it laptops are out and new work is being shared, and man the shit I was seeing was straight bananas!!!
He went into detail about his latest and largest solo show that took place in Newark, New Jersey earlier this July. Unfortunately due to some sketchiness with the manager of the space/gallery and the owner of the building, the show came and went before many (myself included) had the chance to even see it.
It’s too bad because a lot, and I do mean A LOT of hard work went into his show. He explained that this was his chance at proving to himself and the world that he was capable of taking what has become his “signature style” to the next level. Dealing with larger materials and spaces, as well as having the luxury of time to let solid themes develop.
This new large scale installation dealt with issues of war and money. Deceit and greed. Power and corruption.
It’s an amazing example of one man’s active brain transferred to wall, floor and ceiling by way of billboards, paint, tape and razor blades. Hopefully these images will make their way around the web and lead to Poster Boy getting a new space to pick up where he left off with this show, and push the envelope even further….
Enjoy it. Share it. Think about it…
