Books We Love :: Poster Boy -The War of Art

The best part of embarking on a web series about art is meeting new artists. About a year ago I came across an article in New York Magazine about a young crazy razor blade swinging street artist. His name was Poster Boy. Luckily for me the article included his Flickr page and away I went clicking. After seeing a pretty impressive body of work all created out of subway adverts, I decided to reach out.

We ended up meeting up in a Starbucks in Union Square a week later and haven’t stopped checking in on each other ever since. Fortunately for me we’ve become friends  and when we catch up, I’m always amazed to hear stories about all the different reaction to his art. There is most certainly a bold thick line in the sand of  those who love him or HATE him. I’ve always believed when it comes to creating art, if everyone liked everything your putting out, then you must be doing something wrong.

A few months ago, he started sharing ideas about his new book, The War of Art. We’re happy to see it’ll finally be out on March 9th. For now you can preorder it here.

By the way, about 30 minutes after our 1st meeting in that Starbucks in Union Square we made this video:
