Events We Love :: Jazz Tribute to Guru @ BK Museum

The Brooklyn Museum continues curating great summer events. On Sunday, July 25th they will host a Jazz Tribute to Guru at the Steinberg Family Sculpture Garden and it sounds like there are some great musicians who are coming together for this jam.- Moni Pineda

Jazz musician Diallo House and band members Brian Jackson, Jeremy “Bean” Clemons, Stacy Dillard, Kevin Louis, Tony Cortes, Mavis “Swan” Poole, and Belynda Jones pay homage to the 1990s hip-hop artist Keith “Guru” Elam, co-founder of the duo Gang Starr and a pioneer in bridging hip-hop and jazz. A preceding gallery talk takes place at 2 p.m., focusing on connections between the music performed and contemporary art in the Museum’s collection.
