Films We Love :: Lbs. with Michael Aronov

If you watch our 120 Series regularly, you probably remember Michael Aronov and his one man show, Manigma. If you don’t, take a look at it below. Michael has just invited us to see a new indie film he’s starring in called Lbs. which deals with food addiction and obesity. It has limited distribution but if enough people come watch it, Lbs. could be screened in theaters across the country. Read more about the film from Michael himself:

“We got extended for another week in The Village East Cinema and are making marks on the cinema world, particularly being a tiny yet gritty truly indie film.  Having been the #1 per-screen film in the country last week – we need to fill the house tonight so this flick has a greater shot at spreading further nation-wide.

It is a deep look into the misunderstood addiction of overeating and weight. (nearly 200lbs. lost in this film to authenticate the ceaseless up-and-down struggle with obesity – a nation-wide epidemic) I play the lead’s best friend, a charismatic addict who suffers and spirals through a full transformation of his own.  There is work in this piece I am proud of being a part of – original, raw, hilarious and true.

We run through April 8th, but come tonight if you can.  Saturday is a big determining factor for further extensions and wider release. We have a Q & A after the 5pm and 7:30 screening.”
