ideas we love :: one laptop per child’s pedal-powered computer

It always amazes me to see what happens when necessity overshadows greed. Big hats off to the good folks at One Laptop Per Child for coming up with this one. I absolutely love seeing forward thinking ideas coupled with “pure ” efforts in connecting and strengthening our global communities. It’s just one world, remember?

One Laptop Per Child has developed a nice solution to power their devices in areas without electricity. They’ve attached a set of pedals to the OLPC hand crank which can power the computer as it’s being used.
