songs we love :: “free” by matsi

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this song.

Matsi’s “Free” was originally featured on one of Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Bubblers compilation CDs a couple of years back.  Moni then featured the song on her “Sacred Love” mix.  Then finally, I came into contact with the song last week while I was out on a morning run, listening to the mix. Then, half way through the mix, on it came.

I finished my run and sat and down by the Brooklyn Bridge and just listened to it a few more times. It made me think about how many songs I hear on a daily basis and how few of them actually resonate a response in me.

I wanted to share this song with everyone and pass on the infectious power of song. Hopefully it soothes some of your rough edges.
