Comics We Love :: Alan Moore’s Necronomicon

For those unfamiliar with the mind-bending horror of early 20th-century author H.P. Lovecraft, his work has been more influential on what we think of as “modern” horror than almost any other single person. Although criminally under-appreciated in his own time, Lovecraft would go on to inspire some of the greatest minds in horror, from Stephen King to John Carpenter.
Alan Moore is the imminently reclusive comic author responsible for such blockbuster graphic novels as Watchmen, V for Vendetta and Swamp Thing, a man of few words who is currently (not) enjoying a huge boom in popularity due to the recent film adaptations of his work.
These two titans of literature will unite (in spirit at least; Lovecraft died over fifty years ago) for what is rumored to be Alan Moore’s last foray into comic books, Necronomicon. The horror series will deal with modernized updates on Lovecraft’s timeless themes of forbidden knowledge, extra-dimensional gods and the ever-present shadow of insanity. Scripted entirely by Moore, the series should prove to be a welcome, terrifying addition to the Lovecraft canon.
Watch for the release of Necronomicon #1 this August!

Videos We Love :: Henry Miller – To Paint Is To Love Again

I have to give it up to Doze Green for posting this one the other day. I had no idea that the author of some of my favorite books was also such an avid painter. The most powerful part of this video for me is hearing Miller in his own words share his insights on the act of painting. A beautiful video for any Henry Miller fan. Mr. Miller you’re missed but certainly not forgotten. Thanks for the inspiration…
