In case you haven’t heard about Alexander McQueen exhibit at the MET, Savage Beauty, we thought we’d share a bit of brilliance with you. The exhibit juxtaposes themes of his past collections in cinematic environments that reflect the conceptual vision for each runway show. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has compiled an extensive array of videos from runway shows, a beautiful video tour of the exhibit, photos and writings for online viewing as well as events and lectures around McQueen’s gorgeous artistic contributions. When I saw the Art of the Steal trailer the other night, my mouth dropped in shock followed by outrage. This is my usual reaction to injustice, greed and a world that sometimes seems upside down. Watch the trailer & catch your face distort from confusion. Looking forward to seeing how the film unfolds. THE ART OF THE STEAL chronicles the long and dramatic struggle for control of the Barnes Foundation, a private collection of art valued at more than $25 billion.

A couple of weeks ago a video started floating the web entitled The Archive, about an older man who over the span of his life had amassed over 1 million records in his personal collection. When I made the time and finally watched it, I was blown away. The film takes a sensitive look at a man who’s love of music all but consumed him, yet fueled a passion unparalleled by ANYONE.
songs we love :: “free” by matsi
Matsi’s “Free” was originally featured on one of Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Bubblers compilation CDs a couple of years back. Moni then featured the song on her “Sacred Love” mix. Then finally, I came into contact with the song last week while I was out on a morning run, listening to the mix. Then, half way through the mix, on it came.
