Design we Love :: Turntable Clocks

I’ve always been a big fan of simple design that can transform an object by reformatting its original function.
Films We Love :: Cl!ck – A Lego Short Film

For many who have been following our blog, you may have noticed we’ve been on a bit of a stop-motion kick. I can’t tell you how amazed we’ve been lately with the level of stop-motion films popping up all over the net.
Commercials We Love :: Top Digital – What Sound Can Do

Our sense of sound is one of our strongest in terms of discerning situations that can be either life threatening or as soothing a gentle tide. After a while, it’s also one we can easily take for granted. That is until a wickedly funny commercial for Top Digital (Italy) reminds us of the fact that every sound tells a story. Thanks to the good folks at Saatchi & Saatchi for coming up with this one.
sites we love :: luxirare

Luxirare is one of those sites that sparks my imagination, makes me highly inquisitive and keeps me coming back for more. But how could I not with the tag line “Killer Clothes + Fine Cuisine”! This weekly webzine takes you through the creative process and execution of decadently beautiful recipes and sinfully gorgeous clothing design by way of crisp photography and witty entries that include the bits of inspiration that birth each project. My mouth often waters and my eyes melt in pure delight.
Here’s a couple of my favorites: the “bento box” (edible art with great design, color, texture & flavor) + the “chain jacket” inspired by the YSL cage boots (simply sexy). I hope these photos peak your interest and immediately lead you to her site. You won’t be disappointed!
videos we love :: classic: designer milton glaser

This is a great profile of the classic American graphic designer Milton Glaser, a video directed by designer Hillman Curtis. It’s amazing that you could really almost predict the level of personality that comes with his level of talent, but what really inspires is his passion for teaching. While design will always be valued, there is something so charming and old school about Glaser flipping through his flat files and the decidedly non-digital appeal of the Glaser aesthetic.
designs we love :: phantom bicycle

Here’s an interesting take on the classic crusier. This bicycle called the “Forkless – Cruiser” was created by Olli Erkkila. He built it for his graduation project at the Institute of Design in Lahti, Finland. I wonder if we’ll be seeing more of these at a beach near you…
