Videos We Love :: Brush the Heat, Little Dragon

Not only do we love Little Dragon but we also love that Yukimi’s dad, Yusuke Nagano, animated their new video, Brush the Heat. Yukimi posted that he and his partner, Olga Nikoulina, filmed the band in his office basement and then “worked real hard to make this work without budget n all, they created this video as always surreal n funny.”
Installations We Love :: Enigmatica by Kit Webster

To embrace the current 3D craze sweeping the nation I thought it would be fitting to feature an artist whose work bridges the gap between digital and analog worlds.
I was first introduced to the mind-blowing digital sculptures of Australian multimedia artist Kit Webster through a video of his first installation, DATAFLUX. The piece consisted of sound activated squares of light mapped onto 7 pillars. Enigmatica is the next iteration of this piece.
Kit Websters description of the installation: “Enigmatica acts as an experimental platform for the combination of light, sound, and space.
A series of suspended frames diminish in size down the length of the gallery acting as a canvas for the display of surface specific projected visual sequences.
Within this constructed inter-dimensionality and through the development of abstract visual and sonic sequences I aim to juxtapose expression with conformity, whilst demonstrating the potential for new forms of digital sculpture.”
More of his work can be found at http://kitwebster.com.au/. Definitely check out his TEXTAVISION piece.

Events We Love :: WorldTown v3 ft Moni & FWL

This Saturday DJ K7 of Chattanooga, Tennessee invited me to be a part of his music series, Et Cetera, WorldTown v3 and I couldn’t be more excited! I’ll be screening a few of our Friends We Love shorts followed by a panel discussion on global culture and music. Later in the evening we’ll have a big party where we’ll play bumping music from around the world. I’ll be DJing along with K7 and Miss Kai from Nashville, a lovely soul sister I can’t wait to share the decks with.
Ideas We Love: Hacking the LA Marathon

In most cities the idea of having 26.2 miles of car-free pavement at your disposal sounds like a dream — especially in auto clogged L.A. So, with an eye towards creative urban intervention, the Wolfpack Hustle bike crew has managed to turn the night prior to the L.A. marathon into an event in and of itself. The Wolfpack Hustle: LA Marathon Crash Race begins at 4 am and gathers 369+ riders for nocturnal rivalry on two wheels. Surreal footage of the event can be found below: by contributing artist, Nate Graham
Clubnights We Love :: I Love Vinyl x FWL

This month the I Love Vinyl collective will debuting at Brooklyn Bowl and Friends We Love will join the fun with visuals & Moni on the decks.
This will be an especially great night because we’ll celebrating Amir’s 40th birthday and our friend Erik Rico will be hosting. Should be a great night of ONLY VINYL fun, so mark your calendars and let’s do this!
Music We Love :: Silhouette Brown

Silhouette Brown is what happens when four great producers, songwriters & vocalists collaborate on a record and then bless us with a little tour. We’ve got Dego (4Hero, 2000Black), Kaidi Tatham (Agent K, DKD, Bugz in the Attic), Bembe Segue (MdCL, 2000Black) & Lady Alma (Sylk 130, 4Hero). With a line up like that, you’re bound to get the jazzy, soulful sound we’ve come to love along with the deep bass headnod that we can’t live without. Preview the record on the 2000Black site and make sure to check out the live shows during WMC (3.24-26) & in San Francisco (4.9), DC (4.11), New York (4.17) & Chicago (4.21).
