Stop-motion We Love :: Skank - Noites de um Verão Qualquer

One of the great things about Twitter is that in just one click you enter a whole other world. A few minutes ago, my friend @Zebs posted this stop-motion video link and of course I had to check it out. Needless to say it’s DOPE. It’s by the Brazilian band Skank, directed & illustrated by Conrado Almada and produced by Brokolis do Brasil. There’s a short making of video below and you can see the full video here. Enjoy it as much as I did…

Photographers We Love :: Matilde Campodónico

Photographers We Love :: Matilde Campodónico

By contributing artist Jennifer Cendaña Armas

Matilde Campodónico: my favorite photographer and a friend I love. Her use of space is wondrous to me, the shapes of her subjects are so crisp, and a sense of curiosity always seems to peek out. I can´t help but think, ¨She is meant to be doing this.¨

I first discovered her photos of musicians. A touch of Google and I found work ranging from past exhibitions to current events photos in The Associated Press. After more Googling and some praying, I had my own session with Mati in Uruguay, where she resides. She is just as fabulous in person as I hoped (and also one great tour guide of Montevideo).

PSAs We Love :: Scarface Pretty Tony: A Health Reform Love Story

When you can’t beat them with reason, information or logic, might as well join them in scandalous, ridiculous misinformation – at least to get their attention. Thanks to the good folks at Kenzo Digital, we can enjoy an entertaining and rather funny look at the claims being made by those folks who do not want to see proper health care reform in this country. One of them being that illegal immigrants will be given health care – which I wouldn’t actually mind if it were true. If you don’t know much about the issues, educate yourself. Artists We Love :: Chanel Kennebrew / Junkprints.com

I first saw Chanel Kennebrew’s work at the outdoor art fair our girl Toofly & Younity organized this past summer. Let’s just say Chanel is quite prolific & talented. I signed up to get her newsletter and realized that she’ll be speaking at the Asian American Arts Alliance Workshop Series this Thursday on the topic of selling artwork online. If you’ve never visited her site, Junkprints.com, take some time to look around. There’s quite a few handmade bags, dresses, hoodies & limited edition pieces designed by Ms. Chanel in the store. I’ve posted one of my favorites – the Matilda Postcard Set, which is really adorable & affordable at $12. If you’d like to attend her workshop, here’s the info:

Music Videos We Love :: Soil & Pimp Sessions, Pop Korn

Music Videos We Love :: Soil & Pimp Sessions, Pop Korn

I caught Soil & Pimp’s NY debut a few years ago and they absolutely blew me away. It was a jazz show for our generation – vibrant, full of energy executed by highly skilled & talented mad men who commanded their instruments, the stage & all of us in the crowd. Soon it was termed “Death Jazz” which is a fitting description as the frenzy of their show is closer to a death metal gig than a languid, jazz joint.
