Kehinde Wiley’s The World Stage: Israel is exhibited at the Roberts & Tilton Gallery until May 28, 2011 in Los Angeles. Among the subjects of Mr. Wiley’s paintings are Ethiopian Jews whose families immigrated to Israel and gained citizenship between the years of 1984 and 1991. Please watch Dwayne Rodgers’ short film below to learn more about these beautiful people and project. “My reason for being here is to make beautiful paintings; to make artwork that talks about a place and about a people and about a history.” Kehinde Wiley
We are so happy to be here to see this exhibit first hand. Read our past review of this series from Brazil in 2009. – Moni Vargas

The Morono Kiang Gallery presents Edifice Cache – a four-week, “Exquisite Corpse” exhibit launched by downtown LA artist, Mike Russek and expanded upon by Augustine Kofie, John Carr, Favianna Rodriguez and Yuri Shimojo. Last summer, I had the pleasure of visiting Mike Russek’s studio and gallery, Dialect, where I saw some of his laser-cut, circuit board pieces that serve as the inspiration and landscape for this show. Every week each artist contributes to the evolving work the at the gallery space culminating in four separate receptions every Saturday from January 22 – February 12, 2011.
