Exhibits We Love :: Move @ Morono Kiang Gallery, LA

During our trip to Los Angeles last week I had the pleasure of meeting the artist John Carr who invited me to see his installation at the Move exhibit at the Morono Kiang Gallery. When we walked in we were warmly greeted by the exhibit’s curator Shervin Shahbazi who took the time to explain the theme of this two-part group show. This first part, Move, examines “the potential to create agency and propel change” through art in the contextual space of a home. You can catch part two of this series entitled Grow, when it debuts next month.

We are pleased to hear the Carmichael Gallery will be exhibiting over 20 works by Keith Haring in their upcoming Urban Legend show. We just visited their gallery this week to see the beautiful work of Nina Pandolfo (photos soon coming) and wish we could be around for this next show. If you’re in LA, make your way to Culver City and then report back to us. We’d love to hear your thoughts. Should be a great one!

Exhibits We Love :: Utagawa Kuniyoshi @ Japan Society

The Utagawa Kuniyoshi exhibit at Japan Society should not be missed. There are over 130 woodblock prints from this master of the Japanese style called ‘ukiyo-e’ which has influenced the current anime and manga art forms. What makes this exhibit so exquisite is not just the volume of prints but the fact that we’ll be able to see a beautiful interpretation and depiction of Japanese art and culture from the mid 1800s.
