Our friends at Giant Step bring you the last live performance of Blackmagic by Jose James this Friday, December 3rd along with TK Wonder, Ben Perowsky MSO and Ge-ology at LIttlefield in Brooklyn. After a year of spinning the Brownswood Sessions with this crew, one thing is certain – this is an evening you don’t want to miss. On Saturday, May 15th, NYC will have the pleasure of listening to Belgium’s own DJ LeFtO who has been rocking the tables throughout Europe and is bringing his sound stateside in the next few weeks. He’s a regular on the Brownswood circuit and known for his eclectic mixes and sound.

From the first time I saw her perform at Summerstage in 2008, I knew Janelle Monae is the type of talent that’s been desperately needed in the scene. Like so many other artists I’ve loved & had the pleasure of spinning for – Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Amy Winehouse, Maceo Parker & Sir Paul McCartney – this one will be for the books!

I am very excited to be spinning at Giant Step’s Svedka series at the brand new basement club, Good Units, at the Hudson Hotel. Not only because I’ll be playing on a virgin system, but because I’ll be spinning next to one of our favorite vocalists of the last couple of years, Daniel Merriweather. I first heard Daniel singing the classic Smiths tune “Stop Me” on Mark Ronson record & since I’ve kept my ears open to see what else he’s been up to. On Wednesday he’ll be playing an acoustic set of new material from his upcoming album “Love & War.” The bill also includes the irreverent & sassy Amanda Blank whom I saw perform a few years ago & whose tracks I’ve been playing for a minute. The night will be topped off with British newcomer Ebony Bones, who will definitely be highly entertaining.
