Exhibits We Love :: JR @ Pompidou, Paris

JR’s collaborative Inside Out project is now installed at the Pompidou Center in Paris through September 5, 2011. Friends We Love had a chance to experience the JR photo booth or Cabine Photographique at the TED conference earlier this year and printed out an impressively large self-portrait, which was beyond fun. This same process is part of the installation in Paris. One beautiful addition to the portraits is a bindi – the Hindu forehead symbol intended as a reminder of our spiritual connection to source. Once again, JR gathers, inspires and ignites us to do more than just observe. – Moni Vargas

Timelapse We Love :: Augustine Kofie, Edifice Cache

As I promised, we’ll be posting these fantastic timelapses of the evolution of Edifice Cache, the four week installation at the Morono Kiang Gallery in downtown Los Angeles. This second video features the work of Augustine Kofie, as he is painting and installing his contribution for last week’s reception. Kofie’s style marries the energy of the futurists with architectural drafting techniques that are at times softened by warm portraits and text.
The next reception happens this Saturday, January 29 and features the work of John Carr, who will be feverishly working all week on location giving the public a rare glimpse into his installation & creative process.

Exhibits We Love :: Aakash Nihalani @ Bose Pacia

Our talented friend Aakash Nihalani is exhibiting new works at Brooklyn’s Bose Pacia gallery with an opening reception on Thursday, November 4, 2010. This show will include many facets of his conceptual geometric expression – sculpture, photography, tape installation, painting and interactive digital imagery. Although he was initially known for his public works around NYC, in the last couple of years Aakash has transformed and transgressed the limits of “street art” into a solid exploration of his themes within a gallery setting while retaining the vibrant energy and playfulness of his earlier works. – Moni Pineda

Exhibits We Love :: Move @ Morono Kiang Gallery, LA

During our trip to Los Angeles last week I had the pleasure of meeting the artist John Carr who invited me to see his installation at the Move exhibit at the Morono Kiang Gallery. When we walked in we were warmly greeted by the exhibit’s curator Shervin Shahbazi who took the time to explain the theme of this two-part group show. This first part, Move, examines “the potential to create agency and propel change” through art in the contextual space of a home. You can catch part two of this series entitled Grow, when it debuts next month.

Art We Love :: Luzinterruptus | Literature vs Traffic

I came across this image and really couldn’t shake it, so I decided to share it in hopes it’ll have the same effect on you. The idea behind the art was simple: Replace traffic with literature. You gotta love it. Great job Luzinterruptus!
