Docs We Love :: The Century of the Self

In our consumerist society, the SELF is exalted and it’s desires reign supreme. These techniques were so effective that soon the US government, political parties and the CIA began implementing them. Why do we buy things we don’t need? Is satisfaction our ultimate pursuit or is it a way for the powerful to keep us in line and docile? Has consumerism become the opiate of the masses?

The Century of the Self explores all these questions through an in-depth look at the history of psychoanalysis in our modern culture. – Moni Pineda
