Festivities will include the debut MANIFESTO Brooklyn Meets Toronto concert showcase, the 2010 Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival and the OkayAfrica Celebrate Brooklyn concert at Prospect Park. Whether to network the weekend away or just enjoy a weekend of music and culture, we’d love to have you join us!

Our good friends at the Carmichael Gallery are pleased to present a showcase of new canvases, site-specific gallery installation and outdoor mural project by Polish artist M-City. There will be an opening reception for the exhibition on Saturday, July 10 from 7 to 9pm with the artist in attendance. The exhibition will run through August 7, 2010.

Celebrate Brooklyn! is one of New York City’s longest running, free, outdoor performing arts festivals. Launched in 1979 as a catalyst for a Brooklyn performing arts scene and to bring people back into Prospect Park after years of neglect, Celebrate Brooklyn! has been an anchor in the park’s revitalization and has become one of the city’s foremost summer cultural attractions. Over its history, Celebrate Brooklyn! has presented over 1,700 artists and ensembles reflective of the borough’s diversity, ranging from internationally acclaimed performers to emerging, cutting-edge artists. All Celebrate Brooklyn! performances are free! The festival attracts upwards of 250,000 attendees from across New York City to the Prospect Park Bandshell each summer. Celebrate Brooklyn! has a well developed membership program with over 500 seasonal members. Benefits of membership include express entry, reserved seating, pre-concert receptions and more.

On July 1, as part of their Centennial Celebration, The Brooklyn Heights Association will collaborate with ISSUE Project Room for a special outdoor performance, “I Do Not Doubt I Am Limitless: Walt Whitman’s Brooklyn”. This free event will channel the psychedelic spirit of poet, journalist, humanist and Brooklynite, Walt Whitman, set against the stunning waterfront backdrop on the Pier 1 Harbor View Lawn of the new Brooklyn Bridge Park.
