Installations We Love :: Night Lights - Yesyesno Interactive Projects

There’s something about watching people of all ages just dropping their guard and letting the good times roll or in this case boogie. With offices in London, New York and Amsterdam, hopefully we’ll all be 5 stories tall and dancing on a buildings sooner than later.

technology we love :: owle bubo - iphone video stabilizer

Every now and then a new invention comes along that looks as cool as it is functionally sound. The boys over at OWLE have come up with an invention so simple, yet so innovative that it just blows the doors off anything that’s come even close to it. In a nutshell the OWLE is an iphone camera mount; stabilizer, with a repositioning microphone, and 37 mm wide-angle lens built for the iPhone 3GS that improves the quality of mobile video. Not sure if this baby will fit in a Christmas stocking, but it’s most definitely worth a shot…

Technology We Love :: Red - Scarlet Camera

I absolutely LLLLLOOOOOVVVVEEEE when a new piece of technology comes out that redefines the game, breaks the rules and blows all of our minds in the process. Most recently the world of still photography cameras, more specifically DSLR cameras, sent some shockwaves through the industry by introducing HD 1080i video capabilities under their hoods. From that point on it’s been a classic race to stimulate both our minds and pockets, with each company attempting to outdo the one another. All the big boys from Canon, Nikon, Sony to Panasonic are now offering new technologies at prices that just didn’t seem possible 2 -3 years ago.

One of the most talked about new kids on the block is the RED Scarlet camera. It’s been said that this baby is gonna change the game. With a street price just under 5K and a 3K picture quality, I say let’s the games begin…

technology we love :: the eyewriter

This is one of the most inspiring videos I’ve seen in a while. In a span of a day I can’t count how many things I take for granted in the process of getting a project done. Sometimes it’s necessary to get knocked on your ass by an artist who defines the true spirit of creativity, by doing so much with so little. Thanks Tempt One, I needed that!

We don’t recommend this one at home or anywhere near your local school zone, old folks home, favorite watering hole or video arcades.

technology we love :: dean kamen’s “luke arm”

Dean Kamen showed some video of the impressive, mind-controlled prosthetic robot arm he’s invented today at D6 in Carlsbad. Kamen has been showing the arm off since early 2007, usually via video clips like what he showed today. But today’s demonstration at D6 was impressive enough that it’s got the gadget blogs and the Twitterverse all aflutter today. Deservedly so: Kamen’s arm, dubbed “Luke” (after Skywalker, I assume), is an incredibly sophisticated bit of engineering that’s lightyears ahead of the clamping “claws” that many amputees are forced to use today. The arm is fully articulated, giving the user the same degrees of movement as a natural arm, and is sensitive enough to pick up a piece of paper, a wineglass or even a grape without mishap.
