Artists We Love :: Emily Henochowicz

Emily Henochowicz is a 21 year-old art student from NY’s Cooper Union who was shot in the face with a tear gas canister by an Israeli soldier and has subsequently lost her eye. She was among the thousands protesting Israel’s attack on the humanitarian flotilla this past weekend throughout the West Bank. I read her story last night and it deeply saddened me. I thought of her courage and the courage of countless others who stand up for basic human rights around the world. I thought of the many civilian kids and families who are affected by unnecessary violence not only in Gaza but in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and countless other countries. I thought of Emily’s immense courage, boundless empathy and steadfast commitment to protest one of the many ills that surround us.
Stop Motion We Love :: Grindin’

If you’re anything like us, you love getting treats rather than spam & work emails in your inbox. A couple of days ago we were pleasantly surprised to find this absolutely mad stop motion treat created with wooden blocks and 4085 photos. This is the work of Rogier van der Zwaag for his group Nobody Beats the Drum and we were blown away. Our first thought was that Rogier’s a bit mental but definitely brilliant. We’re posting Grindin’ and the making of, which is actually a good laugh. Thanks for sharing your beautiful madness, Rogier. WE LOVE IT!

art we love :: roland tiangco’s poster project

I’ve always been a fan of any art that involves more participation that just focusing your two eyeballs on a fixed point. When I first saw this poster project by artist Roland Tiangco I thought…”Wow! Now that’s taking art into your own hands.” Another fun example of a little thought outside the box going a long way. I also love the fact that no two posters will ever be the same…
