Street Artists We Love :: STINKFISH

Street Artists We Love :: STINKFISH

Colombian artist STINKFISH turns every wall into a work of art with just a spritz of a spray-can. His vibrant portraits evoke emotion unlike any other street artist and that’s probably attributed to his South American upbringing mixed with his stencil techniques.

Videos We Love :: Julian Schnabel on Big Think

In this short, Julian Schnabel says he overcomes creative slumps by continuing to work even if mistakes are made. His reasoning is that through creating, you’re learning, so you win regardless of the outcome. PS – If you haven’t seen Before Night Falls, add that to your to-do list. – Moni Vargas

If you’re in New York this week, please don’t miss the Arrivals / Departures closing night event this Thursday, March 31, 7-9pm. Exhibits We Love :: John Carr, Edifice Cache

This is the third week of the Edifice Cache exhibit at the Morono Kiang Gallery. We’ve been keeping you updated every week with the new works. This past week, we had the pleasure of seeing John Carr’s contribution to the evolving “edifice” and there is a timelapse of the process for you to see.

On Saturday, February 5th, join us for the fourth reception celebrating the work of Favianna Rodriguez. Check this out post to learn more about Edifice Cache. – Moni Pineda

Timelapse We Love :: Augustine Kofie, Edifice Cache

Timelapse We Love :: Augustine Kofie, Edifice Cache

As I promised, we’ll be posting these fantastic timelapses of the evolution of Edifice Cache, the four week installation at the Morono Kiang Gallery in downtown Los Angeles. This second video features the work of Augustine Kofie, as he is painting and installing his contribution for last week’s reception. Kofie’s style marries the energy of the futurists with architectural drafting techniques that are at times softened by warm portraits and text.
The next reception happens this Saturday, January 29 and features the work of John Carr, who will be feverishly working all week on location giving the public a rare glimpse into his installation & creative process.

Exhibits We Love :: Pema Rinzin @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Exhibits We Love :: Pema Rinzin @ Joshua Liner Gallery

We first saw Pema Rinzin’s work at the Barnstormers group show last spring at the Joshua Liner Gallery and this Thursday, January 27, he will debut his first solo show in New York, Compassion Transformed. We absolutely loved seeing his interpretation of the traditional Tibetan Thangka painting and from the looks of these pieces, it should be a great show. Since we can’t be there in person, please enjoy the show and report back to us! – Moni Pineda
