From the first time I saw her perform at Summerstage in 2008, I knew Janelle Monae is the type of talent that’s been desperately needed in the scene. Like so many other artists I’ve loved & had the pleasure of spinning for – Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Amy Winehouse, Maceo Parker & Sir Paul McCartney – this one will be for the books!

I adore Janelle Monae. I first discovered her music in 2008 with a streaming preview of ‘Metropolis: The Chase Suite,’ and it was one of those rare times I instantly fell in love with someone’s music. I think Ms. Monae is a true artist, and I admire her uniqueness and the ambition and ability she has to successfully create something that is new and different but also has meaning. I have been amazed with each new work from her and am looking forward to how she will continue to evolve as an artist. She has so much talent and creativity and is such an outstanding performer and entertainer as well! I would be absolutely thrilled if I could experience seeing her perform live on the 18th! No doubt it will be an incredible night!

i’ve been a huge fan of janelle monae for the past three years and have been doing my absolute best to get her work out to as many people as humanly possible. i have 2 friends (who both adore her work) fly in from oakland, california on may 18th and I would loveeeee to be able to take them to the show as they descend from the airplane. all three of us are Geminis and this show would be a great way to begin the Gemini season!!!
