Poster Boy, Artist + Vigilante :: Axis

Limited to the subway ads at any given station, NYC’s most controversial artist Poster Boy, cuts, splices and reworks these images into pieces of free public art full of social commentary and humor for commuters to enjoy.

About Poster Boy:

Poster Boy is an anonymous New York City based street artist whose only utensil is a razor. He is known for satiric collage-like works created by cutting out sections of the self-adhesive advertisement posters in the platforms of New York City subway stations, and pasting them back in different positions. He lives in Brooklyn, New York. Poster Boy also refers to a ‘Poster Boy movement‘ where other people produce similar unsigned work in the New York City subways imitating this original artist.

     Thanks for the comment Richard. The thing I always loved about Poster Boy’s work, is that it evokes emotion. For some that emotion is laughter, for others it’s introspection and for a few it simply resonates anger. Either way, I always believed that GOOD art was suppose to stir something up inside of us. To challenge the way we view the world, or in some cases simply to see it in a different light. In many ways, Poster Boy epitomizes both what an artist is and most of all what an artist could be…
